Apple Store: Covid Retail Considerations

Retail is changing due to shifting consumer behaviors. It is time to apply creative thinking to traditional retail environments to once again enhance the customer’s experience. So creative collaborator, Dan Rutkowski & I thought it would be fun to challenge ourselves with an hours worth of re-designing one of everyones favorite retail stores, Apple.
Specifically, we decided to focus on the Union Square flagship store due to its innovate thinking, extreme openness and sheer beauty. It felt like the perfect challenge considering it is such a successful space in a pre-covid world but stands to reason that in a post pandemic world could be a failure if left alone or “fixed” with the band-aide type solutions we’ve seen in the past few months. We believe it is time to start thinking about traditional retail at a higher level and to apply some out of the box thinking that inspires and reassures consumers in an uncertain world.
